One of the men tries to damage the home’s security camera before the trio eventually give up and leave.
Police said a man was inside during the terrifying ordeal at 2am on November 9.
The footage was released after detectives were made aware of the attempted home invasion while investigating ongoing drug supply offences in the state’s Central Tablelands.
Police set up a task force to investigate the alleged supply of methamphetamine in the Lithgow area.
Officers pulled over a 31-year-old man in Parker St, Kingswood in December and found drug paraphernalia in the car along with about 150g of meth, which police said had a street value of about $75,000.
He was arrested and charged with a string of drug-related offences and remains before the courts.
While investigating the alleged drug offences, detectives were alerted to the attempted home invasion and visited the property to speak with a 50-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman.
Officers also seized several items from the home including a pistol, sawn-off shot gun and a magazine, which will undergo forensic examination.
Detectives have now released the CCTV video of the attempted invasion in an appeal for information.
No arrests have been made over the attempted home invasion or the items seized from the home and investigations are ongoing.
